STECKLER, ALFRED:

American jurist; born in New York city Dec. 18, 1856. He was educated in the public schools of New York city and at Columbia Law School, graduated in 1877, and was admitted to the bar in the same year. In 1881 he was elected a judge of the Fourth District Court of New York city, and served till 1893. In 1900 he was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Supreme Court of the First Judicial District of New York County.

Steckler has taken an active part in politics, without affiliating himself with any party.
